Enhanced Trails Tools of the Explorer 3D Software:
With the Route Tool of the Explorer 3D software, you can draw you own trail or automatically highlight a selected trail on the map. Once you have completed the trail, an elevation profile is automatically generated showing the length of the trail as well as the elevation gain or loss along the way. Trails are GPS-ready, and with one click you can view a 3D fly-thru. Furthermore, each map features additional travel and recreation information.
Explorer 3D is GPS Compatible:
The National Geographic Explorer 3D series software can be used easily with your GPS unit. You can automatically generate and transfer GPS waypoints and routes between your GPS and the software, and store, organize, and manage an ulimited number of waypoints. The National Geographic Explorer 3D software is compatible with most hand-held receivers made by Garmin, Magellan, Eagle, and Lowrance, as well as the X9, X9i, and X9Mi wrist top units by Suunto. 3D Views & Fly-thrus:
With the Parks Explorer 3D software, you can view the maps in 3D with this automated feature. Just click a button and you can be flying along your trail or seeing a 360 degree view of the area. A resizable split screen enables you to see where you are on the map in both 2D and 3D.

The National Geographic Parks Explorer 3D series software requires Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, ME, or XP, 64MB of RAM, 8MB of video memory, a CD-ROM drive, 256-color monitor, a 486 DX/66MHz PC or better, and an optional printer.

Mac Requirements:
The National Geographic Parks Explorer 3D software requires Macintosh OS 10.2 or higher, a 350MHz G3 processor or better, and 128MB of RAM and 16MB video memory, with an optional printer.
